A Personal Story

International Speaker, Mentor and Successful Living Life Coach.

New Thinking, New Success

Many people ask me, “How did you start?” “Who inspired you?” “Who did you learn from?” “What books did you read?”

As it is for many people seeking answers to life’s questions, it all started with a book. In my particular case it was Joseph Murphy’s THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND which I read and re-read. I was in my early 20s and had just settle in Canada.

Being a rather independent (and perhaps rebellious) teenager growing up in New Zealand, I’d decided at the age of 19 to see the world. All I had was a ticket from New Zealand to England and the equivalent of £100 in cash. Somehow I survived because within 3 years I’d circled the world twice travelling and working throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS was an eye-opener. I wrote to the publishers asking if there was any one or any group nearby whom I could contact. They wrote back giving me the name of a Unity Centre in Montreal.

Devouring their library I learned from Joel Goldsmith, Emily Cady, Catherine Ponder and Emmet Fox and then became acquainted with other New Thought groups. Through them I was introduced to the writings and teachings of Emma Curtis Hopkins, Florence Scovel Shinn, Gerald Jampolsky, Ernest Holmes and so many other incredible writers and teachers.

For several years, my “day job “in Canada was as a newspaper reporter where I honed my writing skills. After a stint with the federal government I opened my own international business management and strategic consulting company specialising in change management. At the same time I took many New Thought courses and am grateful for the many wonderful teachers I had.

It seemed a natural progression to go from ‘learning’ to ‘teaching’. After receiving my teaching and counselling licence from the United Centres for Spiritual Living (commonly known as Science of Mind) and moving to Europe, I then obtained my ministerial licence through Emerson. It took a few more years of study and application for my doctorate. At the same time I put my writing skills to use and now have several books published to help others on this incredible journey we’re all on.

The next step was to establish an independent Centre to teach and share what I’ve learned. Called The International Centre for Positive Living (www.centresforpositiveliving.com) it has grown and has a presence in about 40 countries.

In essence, I’m now combining more than 45 years of experience in the corporate world and New Thought arenas of North America, Australia and Europe to provide self-development master classes, educational programs and Successful Mentoring and Life-Coaching expertise to assist individuals and corporations realise their true potential.

One of the main things I’ve learned, and teach and share with every student and person I meet, is that although each of us is special and unique, we’re also responsible for what goes on in our individual lives and the world in which we live. And so when we can change the way we look at people and things, then those people and things change because we’ve changed.

It’s just as the great Mahatma Ghandi suggested, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Be true to yourself. Follow your bliss! Live your dream!
